Generation Waste strives for a future without food waste. With smart technology, education and sustainability, we help our customers transform food waste into measurable insights that benefit the climate, the business and the budget.

 

Our History: from passion to movement

Generation Waste was founded in 2018 by Daniel Oddhammar and Andreas Pringle to help chefs reduce food waste, inspired by Daniel's experiences and frustration over the industry's high waste.

 

Daniel Oddhammar's journey

Daniel began his career as a chef in the 90s, working at prestigious restaurants such as Leif Mannerström's Sjömagasinet, where he learned the value of raw materials – both economically and ecologically. As head chef in Gothenburg, he discovered the need for better systems for measuring food waste.
 

By converting waste from kilos to kronor, he reduced it by 20% in three months, which inspired him to develop a system to help more people achieve the same results.

 

From idea to business

With support from GU Ventures and testing at Comfort Hotel and Gothenburg City Theatre, Generation Waste quickly achieved success. Results showed reduced food waste, which led to the company being accepted into Founders Loft to further develop the business model and scale up.

 

Per Hjalmarö – leader for a sustainable future

Per Hjalmarö, CEO of Generation Waste, is an experienced leader with a focus on sustainability and innovation. With a background in business development, he has driven the company's vision of Zero Waste and led the development of solutions that reduce food waste and create long-term change in the industry.
